I then move on to identifying features I want to have rastererd burned into the wood. I wanted to see how the pieces looked when just stacked on top of each other, and I must say even unpainted it looks great. At this point, I was definitely convinced I am somewhat a masochist. I decided to add major rivers and waterfalls this time, partly as their in game counterparts pixel by pixel trace , partly as what was seen in the official map art. For larger lakes like Lake Verity I decided to to have them vectored for the sake of having them stand out, and for extra detail. It was definitely a bit painful at the time, but very worth it when I see it here.

The map was painted using five colors of acrylic paint.
To make sure I don't paint over various cities and the routes, I put down painters tape over what I wanted to protect. I really enjoy this shot of Twinleaf Town and Mesprit hiding under the lake. And after seeing this, I was convinced it was most certainly worth it. I start all my maps by vectoring over the in game map in Inkscape.
And so we return to the beginning. It was definitely a bit painful at the time, but very worth it when I see it here.
Wooden Topographic Map of the Sinnoh Region (from Pokemon Diamond / Pearl / Platinum)
Here is the Sinnoh region in all its mountainous glory. I must say, This was certainly a process. Piece itself is Shoutout to the Champaign-Urbana Community Fab Lab for the resources and first lasering round, and to the Rutgers Honors College Makerspace for the second and third rounds of lasering.
Frankly I wanted to submit the post with just this image, but I held back because I knew something cooler would be on the way. This map would also be useful for deciding how to paint later.

Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum - Sinnoh Map
Dark Light Custom Preview. One thing I really like is the waterfall detail I added for Sinnoh Route In the future if I want to create ocean level curves good jokethen the option exists to me. These maps provide a good foundation of general features of the region, but they're not super detailed. Now to move onto some of my fav shots of the areas in general.

Back with a brand new piece! I would like to mention that the map and files to make it are ipxelmon for sale, and I unfortunately do not have the resources at the moment to make more maps.
